Monte-Carlo uncertainty
A magnitude interval instead of a single value.
Albedos, reflectances, attitude and extinction are poorly known. LightCurve recomputes the magnitude for random draws of these parameters and shows the 68 % interval (16th–84th percentiles) under the magnitude, with a small histogram and the median.
| Parameter | Default standard deviation | Draw |
|---|---|---|
| Each albedo | 20 % | Relative Gaussian, kept in [0, 1] |
| Each specular reflectance | 30 % | Relative Gaussian, kept in [0, 1] |
| Each attitude angle (yaw, pitch, roll) | 5° | Gaussian |
| Extinction coefficient k | 0.03 | Gaussian |
| Measured BRDF tables | as the albedo | The whole table is scaled |
Number of draws: 48 by default (8 to 256). The draws are rendered in one GPU mosaic, in the background. Settings are in the Uncertainty section of the Materials tab.
