Analysis module
Charts
The sections of an object's report and what each chart shows.
Each section answers one question about the object. Unless stated otherwise, one point is one track. The methods behind the numbers are in Methods.
Overview
Section titled “Overview”| Chart | Shows |
|---|---|
| Key figures | Tracks and measurements, time span, stations, dominant behaviour, median magnitude at 1,000 km, current period and its drift, equivalent diameter, glints |
| Reliability of the findings | For each finding, how much data supports it, from ○○○ to ●●● (phase bins covered, bins seen on both sides, low-phase tracks, periodic tracks, glints, recent tracks, independent stations, known geometry) |
| Tracks by behaviour | Count of each class |
Synthesis
Section titled “Synthesis”Sentences written from the analyses (dominant behaviour, current period and drift, abrupt changes, equivalent diameter and DISCOS cross-section, glints and their main facet, symmetry, monitoring status, agreement between stations), each with its confidence dots, and the table of evidence behind them.
Magnitude evolution
Section titled “Magnitude evolution”| Chart | Shows |
|---|---|
| Magnitude vs phase angle | Magnitude at 1,000 km, coloured by date, with the median per 5° |
| Observed magnitude over time | Median magnitude of each track, coloured by class |
| Standardized magnitude over time | Magnitude minus the object’s usual phase curve; 10–90 % band and median over 30 days |
| Seasonality | Standardized magnitude per month of the year |
Raw measurements
Section titled “Raw measurements”Every measurement (thinned above 250,000 points) against phase and date, coloured by date, and the standardized measurements over time.
History
Section titled “History”Weekly boxes over the last 52 weeks (variation, periodicity score, standardized magnitude); variation and periodicity over the whole history with their 10, 50 and 90 % percentiles over 30 days.
Behaviour classes
Section titled “Behaviour classes”Share of each class, shares per month, and shares per 10° of phase.
Rotation
Section titled “Rotation”| Chart | Shows |
|---|---|
| Period over time | Period of each periodic track with its 1σ bar, the running trend, and abrupt changes (dashed lines with the period before and after) |
| Period distribution | Histogram on a logarithmic scale |
| Detected changes | Date, period before and after, jump |
Anomaly detection
Section titled “Anomaly detection”The sliding monitor compares the latest tracks with the object’s own history. Status (last window, episodes), z-score of the magnitude and of the periodicity over time with the watch and confirmed thresholds, the two z-scores against each other, and the table of episodes (the 15 most recent). Episodes are also shaded on the track calendar, and their status colours the dot of the object in the list.
Stations
Section titled “Stations”Tracks per station and mean variation (coloured by station type), time of the tracks by station type, boxes of the magnitude at 1,000 km, the standardized magnitude and the variation per station, and a table with how each station was located (stations file, or recovered from the angles).
Distribution of the Lambertian equivalent diameter with its most probable value and 16–84 % range, the DISCOS mean cross-section as a disk for comparison, and the diameter against phase. The albedo slider updates the estimate.
Evening / morning symmetry
Section titled “Evening / morning symmetry”The phase curve on the evening side (negative signed phase) and the morning side, overlaid against |phase|, and their difference per bin with a symmetry score.
Specular glints
Section titled “Specular glints”| Chart | Shows |
|---|---|
| Glints over time | z-score of each track; glints coloured by site; equinoxes ± 5 days shaded |
| Facets: direction from nadir | Sun–station bisector in the object frame for all tracks, glints highlighted, with the size of each facet cluster |
| Attitude relative to nadir | Angle between the shining facet and nadir over time |
| Glints vs Sun declination | Share of tracks that are glints, per 2° of declination |
| Facet clusters | Glints within 6° of each other: direction, count, mean z, first and last date |
Angular coverage
Section titled “Angular coverage”Lines of sight seen from the object (polar: angle from nadir and bearing, coloured by phase), their density in the object frame, elevation and azimuth per station, and the signed phase over time.
Signature and similar objects
Section titled “Signature and similar objects”A radar of eight indicators scaled to 0–1 (brightness, variation, periodic share, periodicity, glints, phase slope, symmetry, stability), compared with the three closest loaded objects; the values; a map of all loaded objects; and the nearest neighbours, with a class and shape predicted from their DISCOS metadata.
Tracks
Section titled “Tracks”The sortable list of the filtered tracks (50 per page). A click opens the track panel.
