Period search
Lomb–Scargle periodogram and folded light curve of the measured magnitudes.
In the Measurement tab of the curves, the Periodogram view computes a generalised Lomb–Scargle periodogram (floating mean, Zechmeister & Kürster 2009) of the measured magnitudes. It handles irregular sampling.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Shortest period | 2 × the typical spacing of the measurements |
| Longest period | Half the duration of the series |
| Peaks proposed | The 5 strongest local maxima |
- ×2: a light curve with two maxima per turn (frequent for elongated bodies) gives a peak at half the true period. The button doubles the period.
- Use sets the rotation period of the model.
- The Folded view plots the measurements against the rotation phase for the chosen period.
